Bosnia and Herzegovina is small but beautiful country where you can enjoy mountains, lakes, caves, beautiful cities and even a piece of sea.
It is hard to cover a large range of places that you should see but let’s start and keep exploring…
Japodski otoci/Japodian Islands
Japodski otoci is a group of five small islands that the Una River has dotted with its tributaries.
The place looks like a fairy-tale book. Located just 15 km from Bihać, Japodski otoci offers a view into one of the region’s oldest civilisations. The Japodi, old Illyrian tribe, ruled this area until the Romans invasion.
Here you’ll find a restaurant and plenty of spots to sit and enjoy.
Una National Park
Una National Park was established in 2008. around the Upper Una River, Unac River and Krka.
The most famous spots in the national park are Strbacki Buk, a beautiful waterfall, dropping down into turquoise waters and Martin Brod waterfall, where the popular “International Una Regatta” kayaking competition begins.
Throughout the park, visitors can enjoy prime conditions for rafting, fishing, cycling, hiking, and camping.
The Via Dinarica Green Trail runs through the park, so make sure to prepare your comfortable walking shoes and explore.
Krupa na Vrbasu Waterfalls
Just a short way outside of the city of Banja Luka within a peaceful and shady forest area is an area of small waterfalls, wooden mill and a bridge.
The crystal clear waters racing down between the traditional watermills are absolutely stunning. In the old wooden mills, you can still see the traditional way of producing flour.
Bliha Waterfall
Bliha Waterfall also named Bliha’s jump meaning Jump of Bliha is 56 meters high waterfall on the Bliha river near town of Sanski Most.
